Plans & Pricing
Nebula Genomics offers three plans for gene sequencing: Basic, Deep, and Ultra Deep. As the names suggest, the higher plans offer more in-depth information. Here’s more on each different plan:
The Basic Plan
- Price – $299
- Amount of gathered genetic data – 2GB
- Ancestry reports – Autosomal
- Sequencing depth – 0.4x (i.e., the test reads through approximately two-fifths of your genes)
The Basic plan’s features are comparable to what other standard DNA testing providers offer – it gives you enough information to start exploring your ancestry and building a family tree, and can help you identify common genetic mutations.
The Deep Plan
- Price – $999
- Amount of gathered genetic data – 100GB
- Ancestry reports – Y-DNA and mtDNA
- Sequencing depth – 30x
The Deep and Ultra-Deep plans offer whole-genome sequencing, i.e., your entire genome is read. The Deep plan has 30x sequencing depth, so your genome is read 30 times to give more accurate results.
The Deep plan gives you information about every gene in your body (which you can access through the website’s Gene Analysis, Gene Browser, and Library tools), and insights into both rare and common genetic mutations.
The Deep plan is the most balanced plan, and Nebula Genomics recommends it as the best option for most users.
The Ultra-Deep Plan
- Price – $2999
- Amount of gathered genetic data – 300GB
- Ancestry reports – Y-DNA and mtDNA
- Sequencing depth – 100x
The Ultra-Deep plan is simply a more in-depth version of the Deep plan – the latter reads your entire genome 100 times, as opposed to 30. This makes the results more accurate, and possibly the most accurate of any genetics test currently available in the market.
Nebula Genomics’ plans are quite expensive, but they are frequently discounted, so be sure to check the website out if you’re interested.
Overview
Nebula Genomics is one of the most secure genetics testing brands with whole DNA sequencing and comprehensive reports. The brand was founded in 2016 by Professor George Church, a genomics scientist, and his two students. Nebula Genomics leverages blockchain technology to help users securely share and access large datasets of genetic information. Nebula’s core offering is its whole genome sequencing, which provides in-depth genetics data.
How Does it Work
Despite how advanced Nebula’s analysis and reporting features are, the process for taking the test is quite simple. You can order your kit directly off their website – they offer free global shipping.
When the sample arrives, you need to use the cheek swab to take a DNA sample from the inside of your mouth. To ensure your sample isn’t invalid, avoid drinking, eating, smoking, or using mouthwash for at least one hour before taking the sample.
After taking the sample, place it inside the vial and pack the vial into the envelope. You should then ship the package back to Nebula Genomics and wait for your results – you’ll be informed via email when they’re ready.
What technology does the brand use?
Nebula Genomics is known for its whole genome sequencing, available in the Deep and Ultra-Deep packages. This technology decodes 100% of your DNA.
Additionally, Nebula Genomics also uses advanced technology to ensure data privacy and security. In addition to standard security measures, the brand leverages blockchain technology to keep your genetic information secure and anonymized.
How do you view the results?
You can view your results online on Nebula Genomics’ website. From your dashboard, you’ll have access to the following sets of information:
Traits Report
This section includes details about how your DNA can influence certain traits, including your body and athleticism, diet and exercise, behavior and perception, and appearance and hormones. The report also explains how Nebula drew these conclusions.
The Nebula Library
Nebula’s comprehensive library is well known, and it’s what makes this test so popular for genealogy enthusiasts. The library includes comprehensive genomic research studies, including information about particular genotypes and mutations, etc. You can use the library to see what your own genotypes might mean for your life.
Genome Browser
This extra feature is for Nebula’s more science-focused audience. It lets you browse through your whole genome and even search for a specific gene.
Genetic Database Information
Nebula Genomics’ YFull integration lets you use YFull’s mtDNA and Y-DNA databases with Deep and Ultra-Deep plans. YFull has a vast database with several thousands of samples, including ancient DNA (aDNA) samples from people of different times.
Privacy and confidentiality
Nebula Genomics uses advanced technology and takes many precautions to ensure data privacy and security. The brand has CILA-certified labs that are regularly audited, they have the GDPR Privacy Shield certification, and they have developed blockchain technology that empowers you to own your data and retain control over it. Their work on genomic data privacy has also been recognized and published in renowned academic journals.
Customer support
Nebula Genomics offers very limited customer support options; their support is built around a self-service model, with blog posts, tutorials, and an exceptionally detailed FAQ section.
If you need to reach Nebula’s team directly, you can submit a help form using the drop-down menu, or the contact form, on their website. There are no phone, email, or live chat support options.

Final Word
Nebula Genomics is an established brand that goes the extra mile to deliver a great user experience. Their whole genome sequencing technology means you get the most comprehensive analysis, and their vast Nebula Library gives you detailed, specific insights. Moreover, the brand is fully committed to privacy and security, with CILA-certified labs and blockchain technology.
However, while Nebula Genomics can provide insights into possible health and wellness information, they are not FDA-approved, so the results shouldn’t be taken as medical advice. And despite how thorough the tests are, it’s important to remember that DNA testing – especially for ancestry information – is never 100% accurate.
Because of how detailed Nebula Genomics’ reports and insights are, we generally recommend the brand for users with some experience in DNA testing or genealogy. If you’re new to DNA testing, the results might overwhelm you. Moreover, the brand lacks family tree software, so it’s not the best for building your family tree, either.
